Frequently asked questions

The cost is £40 per term. Leaders receive a 50% discount so have a look at the volunteering section below.

All of the activities and this Association cannot run without new volunteers coming to do their bit. Can you spare some time to consider volunteering for as little or as much as you are able? You don't have to be a full Leader, you don't have to have done Scouts or Girl Guides when you were younger, you don't even need to know how to put up a tent.
Our sections have experienced so many different activities, learnt so much from different people and have done things like caverned, tunnelled, swam, flown through the air, hung from ropes, created craft to cross rivers, climb trees, camp out under the stars and so much more. Whatever your skillset, please lend a hand for as little or as much as you can spare... and we promise, you will get more out of it than you put in.
At the moment we are looking specifically for help with tasks including (but not limited to) coordination of quarterly administration meeting documentation ; as well as general simple admin tasks to support the Section Leaders/ Board of Trustees AND/OR regular or occasional presence at section meetings to support the Leaders deliver a great programme of pre-planned activities.
You can try a taster to see if it is something you might want to continue; you can discuss confidentially what you may be thinking you can commit to. There is meaningful volunteer support, inductions and ongoing learning that is available for Scouting Group volunteers at Volunteering with Scouts https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteer/volunteering-with-scouts/

Typically just uniform, some stout shoes or wellies and a waterproof coat. If anything else is required for a specific activity (eg watersports) we will let you know in advance.

New uniforms can be purchased from Trophy Textiles at Pool or you can keep an eye out online as there is a good secondhand market.
